Drink it now or cellar for up to 25 years. It is recommended to decant it for at least one hour. Founded by Giacomo Oddero in 1878, Poderi e Cantine Oddero is one of the historic wineries of Barolo, and it's based in La Morra, in the province of Cuneo, Piedmont. Today, the company and its 35 hectares of vineyards are managed by Mariacristina and her children Isabella and Pietro, the sixth and seventh generations of the family, with an eye on tradition and one on innovation. The Nebbiolo grapes are carefully selected and hand-picked from the vineyards of La Morra and Castiglione Falletto. After vinification in steel, the wine remains for 30 months in large Slavonian and Austrian oak barrels, according to traditional practices, and then in the bottle for a further 6 months. The Barolo from the Oddero winery has a clear garnet color and an intense and characteristic aromatic profile with notes of dried flowers, small berries, and then earthy and spicy hints. On the palate, it is dry and balanced, with a good structure and firm but well-integrated tannins. The finish is long and elegant with delicate notes of undergrowth. It is the ideal wine with game and red meat stews, and it’s also excellent with mature cheeses.
