Founded by Guido Ferretti in 1906, Cantina Nervi is located in the Gattinara appellation and was acquired in 2018 by Roberto Conterno of the renowned Giacomo Conterno winery. Since then, the company, which owns approximately 24 hectares of vineyards, has assumed a prominent role, particularly in promoting Alto Piemonte wines internationally. Vineyard and cellar operations have been managed by enologist Enrico Fileppo since 1984. The Rosato Nervi is a blend of Nebbiolo and Uva Rara grapes sourced from the Gattinara area, at an altitude between 290 and 425 meters, where the vineyards enjoy the protection of Monte Rosa from the cold north winds and are rooted in mineral-rich volcanic porphyry soils. While the Nebbiolo contributes structure and flavor to the blend, the Uva Rara adds aromatic character. After harvesting and a brief maceration, the must ferments in stainless steel. In the glass, the wine reveals an elegant pale pink color. Its aromatic profile is fresh and lively, with floral and citrus notes (especially pink grapefruit and blood orange) followed by hints of fragrant Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, it is vibrant, light, and perfectly balanced with a pleasant minerality and refreshing acidity. The finish is medium-long and recalls light savory notes. Try it with seafood salads, smoked salmon canapés, or pasta with fresh cherry tomatoes.
