Steeped in tradition, Monte Rosa Hotel was the first hotel in the Matterhorn village. Opened in 1839 by the local doctor, it was at that time the only village inn and boasted three rooms. The hotel was taken over by the Seiler family in 1853. Over the years the hotel has been extended and refurbished on several occasions. This attractive building is painted white, with red shutters. The reception area is medium sized, there are several lounges so there is ample seating for guests. This is a hotel for clients wanting a truly traditional stay in Zermatt coupled with high levels of personal service for which this hotel prides itself. The Monte Rosa was recently renovated to meet the demanding standards currently expected of an international hotel, yet without losing the homely ambience and charm of a traditional turn-of-the-century Alpine hotel. This is reflected in the various lounges and salons, the historical dining room, one of the most beautiful in the Alps, the billiard room and the Montrose Bar. * Seasonal closure 06th April - 13th June 2014
