Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Located in Argentina's Mendoza wine region, the boutique winery Mendel produces high-quality wines thanks to the collaboration between Roberto de la Mota, a world-renowned Argentine winemaker, and the Sielecki family. The company, named after owner Annabelle's father, has ancient vineyards in Lujan de Cuyo and Altamira, in the Valle de Uco. This exceptional Argentine Malbec is produced with grapes from the estate's ninety-year-old vineyards planted in 1928 and located in Luján de Cuyo. After fermentation in stainless steel, the finished wine is then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels. The result is a complex wine with a great personality, which reveals a deep color with purplish-red tones. Its aromatic profile is intense and broad with notes of red and dark fruits (blackberry, black cherry, plum) and spices, caramel, licorice, vanilla, and dark chocolate. On the palate, it is dense and soft with a medium to full body and a delicious fruit intensity. The acidity is lively and well-balanced and the tannins are velvety and well integrated. It is rich but not opulent, persistent, and balanced, with a slightly spicy finish. It goes well with lasagna bolognese but it rocks with grilled meat.
