Cellar for up to 10 years. Decant for 1 hour or more before serving. This is a youthful red wine, exhibiting an expressive bouquet of red fruits, peppery spice, fresh herbs, and dried orange peel. It has a beautiful red cherry colour in the glass, with a dark purple rim. This is a delightful and affordable taste of Catalonia, made from 80% Grenache, 10% Carignan, and 10% Syrah. Founded in 1998 near the village of Poboleda, Mas Doix winery’s vineyards can be found all across the colder side of Priorat, under the shadows of the Monsant and Molló mountains. Priorat is largely dominated by the ‘llicorella’ slate, which makes the region unique, and grants the grapes that grow here a remarkable mineral character. The grapes for Les Crestes were harvested from young bush vines, ranging between 10 and 25 years of age. While most of the vines were grown in ‘llicorella’ slate, a quarter of them had their roots in richer, clayish soil. It brings excellent acidity to the palate, along with a medley of red and black fruits, citrus fruits, sour cherry, and youthful white pepper. It was aged for 6 months in a combination of concrete and oak. An ideal wine for pairing with poultry, mushroom risotto, or red meats.
