Cellar for up to 15 years Decanting time: At least an hour is recommended. Firm and full of body, the tight, floral nose produces elegant, harmonious aromas of dark berries, spice and tree nuts with hardly any hint of oak. The expressive, seductive taste is a precise, accurate extension of the nose woven delicately around a fruity, well-structured core. The tannic-filled, enchanting line extends linearly and gracefully towards a long, bold finish that is very enjoyable now, but will soften over time. Murrieta’s classic annual aromatic blend varies in varietal balancing depending on the season. Hand-harvested from estate owned and grown grapes, from October harvest emerged a 93% Tempranillo, 4% Mazuelo, 2% Graciano and 1% Garnacha Tinta, the Garnacha scarcely employed by the skilled winemaker who holds this varietal back so as not to overpower this renowned blend. Each varietal is fermented in distinct stainless steel vats to be later aged in American oak barriques for 21 months, 8 of which are in new casks. Cod and red Rioja is one of the classic northern Spain pairings, and this Murrieta stands up perfectly to this tradition. Also excellent for fall and winter stews, duck, roasted vegetables or any special occasion.
