Enjoy it now, or cellar for up to 15 years. No need to decant before serving. The rolling hills of Côte de Beaune in Burgundy are where Domaine Marc Colin et Fils makes its home. Here, the noble grapes of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grow alongside each other, providing the world with a delicious taste of the French countryside. Marc Colin set up shop back in the 1970s, inheriting vineyards from the Colin and Ponavoy families - some of which are over 100 years old. Saint Aubin is one of the Côte de Beaune’s hidden gems, praised for its quality and affordability. It contains 30 Premier Cru vineyards, and “en Montceau” is one of them. It is found right in the heart of the appellation, planted on a hillside composed of limestone soil, which brings a mineral edge to this fine Chardonnay wine. The nose is packed with pungent peach aromas and citrus fruits - orange blossom, lemon zest and tangerine. It is medium-bodied, fleshy and unctuous in the mouth, but the minerality that is unique to “en Montceau” comes to the fore. The palate gives flavours of honeysuckle, juicy white fruits, and grapefruit, supported by crisp acidity. It will be at its very best when served slightly chilled, with a plate of sea bream, lobster or succulent chicken.
