Mahi Sauvignon Blanc 2023

Cellar for up to 4 years. Serve chilled. In the local dialect of the Marlborough region “Mahi” means “our work, our craft”, a sentiment that perfectly captures Brian Bicknell’s desire to craft delicious wines inspired by an authentic sense of place. After making wine all over the world Brian returned to Marlborough with his wife in the 1990s and was struck by how many wineries were producing regional blends rather than terroir-driven wines. Their solution was to found their very own winery using grapes from Marlborough’s finest plots and parcels. The couple firmly believe that making great wines takes time and minimal human intervention in the winery. Their first wines sold out purely thanks to word of mouth, and today the winery has a cult following in their native New Zealand and beyond. Prices remain very accessible since the couple prefer to focus their efforts on winemaking rather than marketing and business development. This bright and brilliant Sauvignon is ideal to serve as an aperitif thanks to the mouthwatering freshness and uplifting aromas of zingy citrus, stone fruit, and freshly-cut grass and gooseberries. The light body and elegant, clean finish makes it a great partner for mature cheeses, creamy pasta dishes, seafood or leafy salads.
