Le Vieux Donjon Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc 2024

Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Founded in 1979, with the marriage of Lucien and Marie-José Michel, Le Vieux Donjon has over 15 hectares of vineyards spread between the plateau overlooking the town of Chateauneuf du Pape and the sandy soils to the south. The vines, cultivated according to the principles of sustainable agriculture, are quite old, up to 80 years old. In addition to the excellent reds, the estate also produces small quantities of white wines. The wine is a blend of local Roussanne and Clairette grapes from old vineyards, planted on Saxon soils. The low yields give grapes of great quality and concentration. After vinification in steel at a controlled temperature, the wine rests in steel to preserve its natural freshness and aroma. Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc by Le Vieux Donjon has a bright color with golden reflections and a lively and broad aromatic profile with citrus and floral notes, and spicy and mineral hints. On the palate, it is juicy and fresh, with a medium body and a pleasant acidic vein. The long finish recalls floral notes. It is the ideal wine for scallops and white fish but also goes well with poultry.
