Drink it now or cellar for up to 5 years. No need to decant it. Located in northern Greece, in the Naoussa wine region, Kir-Yianni was founded in 1997 and is today led by Stellios Boutaris. The company, which owns approximately 58 hectares of vineyards on the western slope of Mount Vermion, between Naoussa and Amyndeon, produces wines of excellent quality from native Greek vines, with a particular attention to Xinomavro. Xinomavro grapes are selected and harvested from small vineyards located near Agios Panteleimonas, in the Amyndeon wine region. The vineyards, planted on poor and sandy soil, are approximately 40 years old. The continental climate of this wine region north of Greece and the altitude (around 600 meters) favor the perfect ripening of grapes and the production of wines with a strong acidic backbone. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks to preserve and enhance freshness. The wine reveals a lively color with salmon-pink tones. Its aromatic profile is floral and fruity with notes of stone fruit and wild strawberries and some hints of Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, it is juicy and fruity, fresh and rounded with a light touch of tannins and a marked and very pleasant acidity. The finish is long and refreshing. Try it with fresh Greek salads and other Mediterranean recipes.
