Gomez Cruzado Montes Obarenes 2021

Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. No need to decant but best to open it half an hour before service. Located in the Barrio de la Estación de Haro, in Rioja Alta, the Gómez Cruzado winery was founded at the end of the nineteenth century. However, its name derives from that of the two brothers Jesús and Agustín Gómez Cruzado who bought it in 1916. The company, now owned by the Baños family, has always been one of the reference wineries in this area. After the modernization and the restructuring of 2005, Gómez Cruzado continues in its production of traditional wines of high quality respecting the local traditions and the terroir from which these wines come. Montes Obarenes is a great example of Rioja white wine, produced with the native varieties Tempranillo Blanco and Viura from vineyards located at the foot of the homonymous mountain range on clayey-limestone soils. The must ferments with its own lees in new French oak barrels and in egg-shaped concrete containers. This white wine displays a bright and intense yellow color. The nose is very floral and fruity with aromas of white flowers and ripe fruit accompanied by spicy notes. In the mouth, it is rich, round, and savory. The finish is balanced with good freshness and delicate texture. It is the perfect wine for seafood and white fish.
