Cellar for 30 years or more. Decant for 3 hours or more before serving. From the region of Serralunga d'Alba in Barolo, widely considered to be one of the best locations for red wine in the entire world, Giacomo Conterno has produced the stunning Barolo Cerretta. This Nebbiolo wine is alive with classic scents of concentrated, inky black fruits, fresh tar, roses, and minerality. The Giacomo Conterno winery has been producing Barolo wines in the Langhe region since at least 1912. The Conterno family were among the first in the region to bottle their own wine, and so, are deeply intertwined with the famous Barolo name. That considerable legacy has been passed down to Roberto, the grandson of Giacomo, and the cellar’s incumbent winemaker. Barolo Cerretta is a wine of the utmost quality, packed with profound intensity and marvellous fruit flavours. The palate is defined by dense, layered tannins, along with notes of raspberry, red currant, tobacco, balsamic, and a smattering of dried herbs and spices. The Nebbiolo is aged for 40 months in large oak barrels before bottling. It has a long, complicated evolution in the glass, and requires several hours of breathing before it reaches its full potential. Consider enjoying this Barolo alongside roasted game meats, or pungent cheeses, like Gorgonzola.
