Dominio de Anza Seleccion de Parcelas 2021

Cellar for 20 years or more. Decant for at least an hour before serving. Selección de Parcelas is a single-varietal Mencia wine, from the esteemed appellation of Bierzo in northern Spain. It is a light, vibrant red in the glass - Mencia is usually light in colour, similar to Pinot Noir, but offers a thick, scented bouquet. Red fruits, orange zest, iron and liquorice all mingle on the nose. Dominio de Anza was founded by Diego Magana, a member of a young wine-making family from Navarre. Bringing experience from Argentina, Chile, Bordeaux and Burgundy, Diego has created a stunning range of red wines to share with the world - all of which are true representations of the beautiful landscape of Bierzo. Selección de Parcelas coats the tongue in fine tannins and pure, cleansing acidity. There are flavours of red currant, cherry, rose petals and iron to be found. It is rich in minerality, a trait gained from the red clay soils of Northern Spain. The Mencia was harvested from different vineyards in different vineyards, and was fermented separately before bottling. It is intense and intriguing - a new kind of wine for jaded fans of Spain or Burgundy to explore. To unlock its full potential, pair it with hard sheep’s cheese, empanadas, or any variety of tapas.
