Cellar for 10 years or more. Decant for up to an hour before serving. This is a crisp red Beaujolais wine, garnet red in colour with an expressive nose of sour red cherry, violet petal, wild raspberry, and earthy forest floor. The Gamay grapes were sourced from a 3.8-hectare plot in the renowned Moulin-à-Vent appellation, which is best known for producing wine with a perfumed and elegant bouquet. Domaine A.F. Gros was founded in 1988 when Anne-Francoise inherited a parcel of land from her father, Jean Gros. Encompassing about 11 hectares of prime Pinot Noir and Gamay land, it is largely located within the region of Vosne-Romanee and confines its grapes in Beaune. However, the younger generation of winemakers have expanded the estate outside of the Gros family’s traditional lands, to locations such as Beaujolais. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and with excellent structural acidity. You can discover flavours of cherry, small red berries, gamey animal musk, and a touch of spice. The tannins are fine, providing a long and satisfying finish with plenty of minerals. This offers a unique taste of Beaujolais, with classic Burgundy umami undertones. It will make a wonderful pairing for roasted poultry, grilled meats, or aged cheeses.
