Enjoy now or hold for up to 10 years. Decanting optional, up to one hour before serving. Spearheaded by Giorgi and Temuri Dakishvili, a father and son combination, the Dakishvili Family winery creates a range of traditional Georgian wines with class. The winery is situated near the city of Telavi in Kakheti, in the small village of Shalauri. The Dakishvili’s winemaking legacy reaches back as far as Giorgi’s great-grandfather, so the winery has a huge amount of knowledge and expertise to draw upon. Dakishvili Family produce their wines from family-owned vineyards, all located on the right bank of the Alazani River in the Tsinandali appellation. The majority of these vineyards are planted with native Georgian varietals, such as Saperavi and Mtsvane, but Cabernet Sauvignon can also be found in the clayish, sandy soils of the riverbank. This red blend is a meeting place between Georgia and France, made of 60% Saperavi and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. On the nose, there is an earthy bouquet of berries, leather and dark chocolate. It is fermented underground, in clay Qvevri jugs, giving the wine a distinctly Georgian twist. Flavours of ripe cherry and blackberry envelope the mouth, with notes of rich cocoa and a slight hint of coffee. This wine has a long, sumptuous finish, retaining strong flavours. Enjoy now and for up to the next 10 years, and serve with grilled meat, salty cheeses or traditional Georgian dishes.
