D'Arenberg Footbolt Shiraz 2021

Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. It is recommended to decant it for an hour. The d'Arenberg winery has been around since 1912, and it's seen as a rockstar in the Aussie Shiraz scene. Its name was up in Wine & Spirits Top 100 Wineries a solid 9 times, and now it's being run by Chester Osborn, the fourth generation of the family. They've got this cool place in McLaren Vale with ancient vines and have switched to organic and biodynamic farming to keep things fresh. The wine's got a cool backstory too, named after Joseph Osborn's favorite horse, Footbolt. They still press the grapes with their feet, which is pretty old school but keeps the wine smooth. After that, it chills in French oak barrels and gets all fancy before it hits the bottle. In the glass, the D'Arenberg Footbolt Shiraz shows a deep, dark color with some purple and ruby touches. On the nose, it's like a fruit explosion with dark plums, blackberries, a hint of black pepper, and some final notes of vanilla and licorice. It's full-bodied, velvety, and packed with flavor, with a spicy little kick at the end. Pair it with some BBQ steak or a nice, juicy beef brisket. But if you want to keep it for a while, it'll be good for well over a decade.
