Produced in greater numbers than any other American aircraft the Liberator had a long and distinguished career with the US and Allied air forces. Never as glamorous as the B17 Fortress with which it shared the daylight heavy bombing offensive over Europe the B24 did however prove to be a very capable bomber aircraft. The B24J on the box front was the most widely used of all Liberators and saw extensive service principally in the Pacific where it was the main heavy bomber until the appearance of the B29 in 1944. It also served widely in Europe flying daylight missions against Germany. Max Speed 300mph at 30000ft Power 4 x 1200hp Pratt and Whitney R1830 engines. Range 1700 miles with bomb load.
