Drink now or cellar for up to 8 years. No need to decant before serving. Bursting ripe, jammy fruit and a well-built structure, this powerful wine is sure to please lovers of big bold Californian reds. The blend is dominated by Petite Sirah along with smaller quantities of Alicante Bouschet, Carignane, and Grenache sourced from Cline’s Contra Costa County vineyards. Conditions there are ideal for crafting punchy reds thanks to the warm conditions and limited rainfall which helps concentrate flavours in the grapes. Each batch of grapes is harvested separately when they reach optimal maturity and are also vinified separately using wild yeasts. The young wine is then aged in French oak barrels for 8 months to add polish and subtle spiced notes to the finished wine. The result is a spicy red with plenty of intense dark fruit character, firm tannins, and a generous full body which will respond well to extended cellaring. The Cline family have been pioneers in southern California for several decades and have led the way in sustainability by embracing solar energy and natural solutions in the vineyard. They are proud to be a Certified California Sustainable Vineyard and Winery and have introduced a variety of practices including a 2000-strong herd of sheep and goats to remove weeds from the vineyards and enough solar panels to power the entire winery.
