Cellar for up to 15 years. Decanting is optional, up to 30 minutes before serving. Chateau de Marsannay is located in the heart of the Côte de Nuits region, one of Burgundy’s finest strips of wine-growing land. Head wine-maker Sylvain Pabion works his magic at the chateau, turning 34 scenic hectares of vineyards into a range of classic Burgundy wines. In 2012, the Halley family acquired the estate, along with Chateau de Meursault in the neighbouring region of Côte de Beaune. Olivier Halley and manager Stephane Follin-Arbelet have overseen the domain's passage into fully organic farming, the results of which are now coming to fruition. The grapes for this Pinot Noir were sourced from premium sites across the Cote d’Or, resulting in a concentrated yet easy-drinking wine. It appears pale ruby in the glass, wafting with notes of bright red hedgerow berries, sweet spice and a subtle, classic earthiness. This Cote d’Or strikes an incredible balance between vibrant, crisp fruits and soft drinkability. On the palate, it shows the classic Pinot Noir high acidity, which drives flavours of wild raspberry, blackberry and tart red cherry. The fruit-dominated profile is supported by a deep well of earthy notes. This will be an excellent partner for soft, spicy cheese, mushroom risotto, or a rich salmon steak.
