Drink it now or cellar for up to 20 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Château Teyssier is a grand cru of Saint-Émilion founded at the beginning of the 18th century in Vignonet. The estate was acquired in 1994 by Jonathan and Lyn Maltus, Englishmen from the former Rhodesia. At the time of purchase, the estate consisted of 5 hectares of vineyards. Today the estate covers around 50 hectares of vineyards in Saint-Émilion and surrounding areas and produces 10 wines from different appellations, with a few single-appellation wines made in very limited quantities. The Chateau Teyssier is a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc, aged in new French oak, in perfect Saint-Emilion style. The color is dark and deep red with violet reflections. The aromatic profile is intense and complex with notes of black forest fruit typical of Merlot, especially blackberry, blueberry, currant, and plum, followed by vanilla and toasted hints. On the palate, it is soft and juicy, rich and round. The tannins are velvety, the body is medium-full and the finish reveals an elegant acidity that gives it balance and elegance. It is the ideal wine with pork tenderloin, a nice rare steak, and aged cheeses such as Parmesan or Comté.
