Cellar for up to 6 years. No need to decant before serving. Bread & Butter is based in Napa Valley where they focus on crafting easy-going, delicious wines inspired by the relaxed Cali lifestyle and the rich variety of local terroirs. “Bread” reflects their use of oak barrels to mature and ferment their wines while “Butter” refers to malolactic fermentation which gives their Chardonnays their characteristic creamy character. This big, bold Cabernet epitomises the typical boisterous Bread & Butter style with plenty of ripe fruit and powerful oaky notes. The grapes for this wine are sourced from a variety of vineyard sites across California before being carefully vinified in the winery. A combination of cooler sites closer to the Pacific Coast and warmer vineyards with plenty of sun exposure help to create an intense yet balanced wine with real power and elegance. Before bottling the wine is aged in a mixture of French and American oak barrels which helps to add polish and smooth out the firm tannins. Crushed cassis, blueberry and ripe plums characterise the nose while the first sip reveals a generous full body, robust tannins and a long, slightly spiced finish. The juicy flavour profile makes this a great match for a grilled ribeye steak, barbecued meats or a spicy pepperoni pizza.
