Bouza Tannat 2019

Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Located in the Montevideo region in Uruguay, Bodega Bouza is a family-run winery that has achieved great success and notoriety over the years and is today considered among the most important wine producers in the country. The winery makes a wide range of wines from native vines, such as Tannat, and other international ones, such as Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Riesling. The grapes are sourced from the company's vineyards, and the work in the vineyard and cellar is overseen by the famous oenologist Eduardo Boido, considered one of the most authoritative figures in the production of Tannat. The Tannat grapes for this wine come from the vineyards of Las Violetas and Canelones, located on clay and limestone soils. After vinification, the wine is left to mature for approximately 18 months in used oak barrels. Bouza Tannat is a bold and well-structured red that reveals a dense color with ruby tones. On the nose, its aromatic profile is intense and complex with a strong fruity streak and notes of raspberry, blackberry, plum and forest berries, followed by hints of spices and tobacco. On the palate, it is full and juicy, dense and powerful with firm but well-integrated tannins and a long, slightly spicy finish. It is the perfect companion for grilled red meat or roast lamb.
