Collagen in connective tissue of the skin maintains skin firmness. Collagen represents 80% of the dry mass of the skin. From the age of 30, collagen formation in the skin starts naturally to reduce and continues with 1–2% of collagen loss per year. Collagen loss is intensified after menopause. The signs of ageing on the skin are reduced firmness and elasticity, fine lines and wrinkles.
Biotin Collagen Skin Beauty powder contains Verisol® collagen peptides hydrolyzed from porcine collagen. Verisol® collagen peptides stimulate skin’s own collagen and elastin production improving skin firmness and elasticity, resulting in lasting rejuvenated skin.
Two clinical studies* proved that 2500 mg of porcine-derived Verisol® collagen a day taken regularly for four weeks increased significantly skin elasticity, firmness and reduced eye wrinkle volume. After eight weeks of collagen ingestion, skin elasticity was more pronounced and maximum reduction in eye wrinkle volume of 50 % was achieved. Four weeks after the last dose was taken, changes in the skin were still observed. The study subjects were 35–65 years old women. The effects of collagen were more pronounced in the skin of women over 50 years.
Hyaluronic acid, biotin and vitamin C have also effect on skin appearance. Hyaluronic acid increases skin moisture as it binds water in the skin. Biotin contributes to normal skin, and vitamin C enhances the natural formation of collagen in the skin.
