Bilberry is a dark purple berry related to the cranberry, blueberry and huckleberry. It is a deciduous shrub predominantly native to Poland and Ireland. The bilberry fruit is a naturally rich source of potent plant compounds known as ‘anthocyanidins’. These anthocyanidins are the active part of the bilberry fruit which together with other flavonoids give bilberry its antioxidant properties. Antioxidants are compounds which help to neutralise free radicals. Our experts believe that antioxidants work best in combination which is why they recommend that anyone taking Bilberry should also consider OptiVision. OptiVision contains the premium antioxidant lutein, alongside vitamin B1 and the beneficial omega fatty acid DHA which help to maintain normal vision. Each advanced tablet contains 50mg standardised bilberry extract, equivalent to 5,000mg fresh fruit, which provides 12.5mg of the active ingredient anthocyanidins.
