Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Founded in 2006, the Georgian Badagoni winery produces award-winning, premium wines using indigenous grape varieties, grown in the company's 400 hectares of vineyards, traditional methods, and cutting-edge technology. The winemaking and aging operations take place in the historic cellar, located in the ancient Alaverdi Monastery and restored in 2005, under the watchful eye of the famous winemaker Donato Lanati. Alaverdi Tradition Red is a powerful red wine made from pure Saperavi grapes, selected and hand-picked from the estate's vineyards located near the Alaverdi Monastery. After vinification, the wine rests in oak barrels for over 12 months. In the glass, the wine reveals a clear cherry-red color with dark tones. On the nose, it shows a broad and complex aromatic profile with notes of cherry and ripe red fruits, hints of olives, spices, and tobacco, and a light smoky touch in the background. On the palate, it is generous and round, full-bodied and bold. It has a well-balanced acidity, smooth tannins, and a long lingering finish. It is a characterful wine that calls for meat: try it with roast lamb or duck breast in port sauce.
