The Echelon stands about mid range in the 2013 Viking road selection and is named after the diagonal formation of racers that allows cooperative drafting during bike races. The Echelon is revamped from last year and is the first 16 speed in the range. It's constructed around Vikings lightweight aluminium relaxed road race geometry frameset. Gear selection is achieved with Shimano STI gear/brake integrated shifters with Shimano front and rear derailleurs. Drive is through a Shimano double road 42/52T chainset on a cartridge bottom bracket with a Shimano 8 speed cassette. Powerful alloy dual pivot calliper brakes are fitted to slow the bike in all conditions. An ideal mid level bike for mid-long distance training. The larger 700c wheels, narrow tyres and higher gearing make it easier to achieve and maintain higher speeds, than a mountain bike or hybrid.
